Sales Director – Data Center, Telecom and SIT Lab - SD101 (West Coast, USA)

We're searching for an experienced sales director with a proven track record of success selling networking solutions to the data center, service provider and telecom markets to join our USA team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of sales skills and strong technical acumen in networking and optical products. The role will be based from Silicon Valley, California with regular travel required.

About the Role

Polatis all-optical switches enable dynamic connectivity directly at the fibre layer, with outstanding reliability and the industry's lowest optical loss. Our products allow the efficient management of ever-increasing data volumes and are a key building block in the evolution towards software defined networks.

In this role, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Developing strategy and implementing programs for penetrating target market, including targeted account sales programs
  • Executing on the strategy and programs to exceed territory's goals
  • Serving as the primary technical interface to the client to appropriately qualify sales leads and move customers through the sales cycle, interfacing with product development team to ensure that customer requirements can be met
  • Communicating with Product Management on target market product requirements and providing feedback on product roadmaps and strategies
  • Communicating prospect status on an ongoing regular basis including issues, opportunities and forecasts
  • Building relationships with technical and management contacts within customer and prospect base

About You

To be successful, you'll need to possess a passion for functioning at the intersection of technology and sales in the customer environment and will have demonstrated success in a technical sales environment within the optical communications space. You'll need:
  • Solid technical grasp of optical networking and applications within the target market
  • Strong technical and business knowledge of and a track record of successful selling (S/W and H/W networking solutions) in the Telecom, Wireless, Cable/MSO, Data Center, Cloud Computing markets
  • Extensive list of key contacts and targeted accounts
  • Skilled in developing new accounts and growing existing accounts
  • Experience in:
    • Launching new products into the territory
    • Opening and developing new territories
    • Developing partnerships in multi-state territories
    • Giving technically oriented demonstrations and presentations
  • Ability to leverage strong knowledge of applications to sell at all levels within the target markets
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to understand positioning and developing business cases/solutions for revenue opportunities
  • Key contributor in the development of features needed to acquire customers
